Case Study - On path energy

On Path Energy

Power from above

In 2024, I was commissioned by OnPath Energy to film and photograph several of their flagship wind farm sites across Lanarkshire and the Scottish Borders.

Set on high moorland and deep within forestry, these sites are home to some of the tallest wind turbines in the UK, vast structures that present a unique challenge to capture at scale.

To make the most of the light, I arrived one evening to shoot the sites in the golden glow of sunset, then returned just a few hours later for sunrise. Across both shoots I pushed three drones, nine batteries and two SD cards to their limits, recording every detail from multiple perspectives.

Among the most striking images were the engineers standing on top of the turbines, dwarfed by the blades and skyline, a true hero shot that became a centrepiece of OnPath Energy’s website and marketing materials.

The client later told me these were the most-used images and videos they had ever commissioned, and have since invited me back to document the next phase, featuring even larger turbines currently being installed.

A demanding project, but one that perfectly balanced scale, precision and the quiet power of renewable energy.
