Case Study - LNER

LNER

Working with LNER, I was commissioned to capture both photography and video of their trains travelling through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the UK, from Berwick-upon-Tweed and Burnmouth, to Newcastle, Edinburgh, East Lothian, the Forth Rail Bridge, and Aberdour.

Trains don’t wait for anyone, and certainly not for drones. Each flight had to be carefully planned around the timing of passing trains, flight distance, and battery life. Predicting exact timings wasn’t always possible, so I often had to wait an hour between trains, shooting one in stills and the next in motion.

There was no second take. Every frame had to count.

The result was a library of imagery and video showing LNER trains in motion through some of Britain’s most striking coastal and rural locations. From the engineering elegance of the Forth Rail Bridge to the wild headlands of Berwickshire, the project celebrated the scale and beauty of the route, and the power of good timing.
