Case Study - Visit East Lothian
Visit East Lothian – 2026 Photography Portfolio
The big picture and the human story
In 2025, I was commissioned by Visit East Lothian to create a new body of photography capturing the county across all four seasons. Working alongside a ground-based photographer, we set out to tell the complete visual story of East Lothian, from sweeping aerial perspectives to intimate, human moments on the ground.
As both art director and drone photographer, I planned each shoot in detail, from locations and timings to directing photographers, models and contributors on site. The aim was to capture both the scale of the landscape and the spirit of the people who live, work and play here.
We covered an extraordinary range of locations and experiences: Wild Cairns, Longniddry Sea Swimmers, Belhaven Bay, Beach Wheelchairs North Berwick, The Lammermuir Festival, The Dunbar Townhouse and Museum, The Leddie in Aberlady, The Winton in Pencaitland, Hopes Reservoir, Ezee Bikes North Berwick, Venturing Out Coasteering in Dunbar, The Mallard in Gullane, and many more. The project was so well received that East Lothian Council invited me to present the work to 46 local business owners at their head office in Haddington, a rewarding opportunity to share not only the results, but also the process behind them.
A celebration of a remarkable region, seen from above, and experienced up close.
