Case Study - Jm roofing
JM Roofing – Maybury Primary School, Edinburgh
In early 2025, I was commissioned by JM Roofing to photograph and film one of their new projects, the striking Maybury Primary School in Edinburgh. On a freezing January morning, the light was perfect, turning the building’s clean lines and copper tones into something special.
I spent the day capturing the site from as many angles, heights and perspectives as I could imagine, using the drone to reveal its geometry and relationship with the landscape.
The location sits very close to Edinburgh Airport, which meant the flight required special clearance , permission only granted to CAA-licensed operators holding both the A2 CofC and GVC under a PDRA. It’s the kind of work that demands both technical precision and careful communication.
JM Roofing were delighted with the results and later invited me back during the summer holidays to capture the site again, this time as it was shortlisted for an architectural award. A rewarding project, and proof that the right light, the right permissions and the right timing can make all the difference.
